Onam 2025 Celebration – A Joyous Gathering of Our Nair Community in Hudson Valley

The Nair Service Society of Hudson Valley, Inc. joyfully hosted its Onam 2025 celebration and Family Luncheon on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the elegant Sitar Palace Restaurant in Orangeburg, New York. The event brought together our member families for a memorable afternoon filled with tradition, delicious food, entertainment, and heartfelt fellowship.

Highlights of the Event

Warm Welcome and Community Spirit

The event kicked off at 11:00 AM, with families arriving and reconnecting in the festive spirit of Onam. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and filled with joy as old friends and new members mingled in celebration of our vibrant cultural heritage.

Traditional Onasadya

A sumptuous Onasadya—the traditional vegetarian feast—was served by the restaurant and truly captured the essence of Kerala’s rich culinary tradition. The banana leaf meal, complete with all the authentic dishes from sambar to payasam, was a major highlight and received wonderful feedback from our members.

Birthday Celebrations

As per our committee’s earlier decision, we also took a special moment to celebrate the birthdays of our members born between May and September. A group birthday recognition was held, adding an extra layer of joy and festivity to the afternoon. Those who had submitted their birth month information were greeted with applause and warm wishes.

Cultural Performances

A special shout-out to our talented children and adult performers who entertained us with songs, dances, and musical performances. Their enthusiasm and talent were truly inspiring and showcased the cultural richness of our community.
